THE PROCESS

DESIGN
Brief – An anniversary present for his wife of a gold necklace featuring their two children’s initials
I sketched up different designs for the client to review with different font styles, sizing, different spacing between the letters, length of chain etc. We worked together to choose his favourite design and he selected 9ct yellow gold for the material.
MAKING
AT THE JEWELLERY BENCH
At the jewellery bench, I pierced out the letters and filed and shaped them until they were golden 3D shapes. Next, I soldered on the jump rings and added the chain by soldering the links to the jump rings between the letters. A fiddly job! A good clean up, file and sand later, the initial necklace had taken shape.
Finally a good old polish to bring the necklace to its golden sparkly glory.
